Short version: your boards never leave your device unless you export them or use an AI feature.

Boards are stored in your browser

SketchWith has no accounts and no database. Each board (the main whiteboard, drawing board, classroom board and so on) autosaves to your browser’s localStorage under a key starting with sketchwith:, together with the zoom level and paper style. It stays on this device and browser until you clear it.

AI features

The sketch to image and AI whiteboard tools send a single PNG snapshot of that board, plus any text you typed in the prompt field, to a model through Vercel AI Gateway, only when you press the button. SketchWith doesn’t store the image or the result. The model provider (OpenAI) processes the request under its API terms. Your IP address is held briefly in memory to enforce the hourly limit.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views and referrers. It doesn’t use cookies or build profiles of individual visitors.

Exports and sharing

PNG, PDF and board-file exports are generated in your browser and saved directly to your device. Share as image hands the PNG to your device’s share sheet or clipboard; where it goes from there is up to you.
