Printable graph paper / 1/4 inch grid
1/4 inch graph paper, printable PDF
Four squares to the inch, the most common US school and office grid. The heavier line every fourth square marks whole inches, so measuring a scale drawing is a matter of counting.
What it’s good for
Algebra and geometry homework, bar charts, floor plans at ¼ in = 1 ft, and knitting or cross-stitch charts.
Every option above can be changed: swap Letter for A4, change the line colour to a pale blue that photocopies faintly, or turn on landscape. The PDF is rebuilt instantly in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Prefer to draw on screen? The online graph paper board has the same grids with markers and snapping lines.
Questions people ask
How many squares are on a sheet of 1/4 inch graph paper?
With the default 0.4 inch margin on US Letter, the grid is 30 squares across and 40 down (7.5 × 10 inches). Shrink the margin to fit more; the counter under the preview always shows the exact number.
How do I print it at the correct size?
Choose “Actual size” or 100% scale in the print dialog. “Fit to page” shrinks the grid by a few percent.
Is it free?
Yes: no account, no watermark, no limit. The PDF is generated in your browser.
